our friend hambeak just got the most dreaded phone call from his jw child.
the news was passed on as he was asked for by name and not as"dad" and let known that "they" just called to let him know that his other son, brian, age 26, is dead.
he was in a car accident.

a former good friend of mine (devout jw still) came into where i work.
i knew she was there, so i went right up to her and said, "hi".
she said "hi" with sort of a sick look on her face, and i said "how are you?".
Stupid as it may seem, I loved these people.
Not stupid at all, it is the kind hearted ones who hurt the most in all this insanity.

Sorry exwitless, the process has begun. That person will talk about that encounter for some time.
Unless I just wasn't in the mood to deal with them I always smothered them with kindness when they were trying to shun me. I since moved and there are only a few in this town who know me for the evil apostate that I am. Lucky me I don't see them often.
Once I tried to give one relative a booklet called "Letter to Jehovah's Witnesses" written by Dan Hall and she handed it back and said with this proud glare, "I don't read things from apostates, I know what you are trying to do" we were in Big Lots. I said "It is not apostate, it was written by a former elder who loves God very much."
This women had to be talked out of believing she was annointed ....I could go on..I think I will...
This women and her husband gave his father, a depressed man, a loaded gun who then used it to shoot himself and died. He was my nieces grandpa, she was devastated.
Great dubs...shun away
a couple of threads about recent watchtower articles as made me wonder what they're thinking when they are writing them for a magazine that is supposed to be for preaching purposes.
i tried to put myself in the mind of somebody that didn't know much about jehovah's witnesses.
the stuff on weddings would have been weird at best, and the recent articles aimed at parents whose children leave the wt must strike normal people as down right creepy.
.lol.. yep Asleep magazine much more fitting cover.
The most shocking to me was the cover with children on it, they were about the age of my children at the time. Gosh it is hard to even type this but some of you already know which one.
They hailed these poor children as martyes since they had died for lack of blood. I think that was a turning point for me. It came out in the 80ies ...
recently i did some research on "light".
it fascinated me that there are several greek words used but merely the one in english.. jwv phos foce from an obsolete phao (to shine or make manifest, especially by rays; compare 5316, 5346); luminousness (in the widest application, natural or artificial, abstract or concrete, literal or figurative):--fire, light.. matthew 4:16-17 the people who sat in darkness saw a great light, to those who sat in the region and shadow of death, to them light has dawned.
" from that time, jesus began to preach, and to say, "repent!
hi apostate kate,
where do the bethel boys get their new light from?
not from photeinos, that's for sure.
thanks for the research. cool stuff. :)
tetra
Thank you! Hope you had a good day tetra. I know you have a scientific mind too. It is interesting how much "light" is used in the New Testament. I guess "photons" came from the Greek root word for light.

Recently I did some research on "light". So did I - Did you know it is made up of photons and yet behaves as a wave.
Everything about light is fascinating. I was watching a documentary about light and though the technical stuff is over my head, I could understand that light is amazing.
I don't even know exactly what a photon is.
I don't know how to make the yellow highlight stop...lol

Welcome to the forum Avid! Thank you for your post, very thoughtful and from what I read so far I do agree. It takes me awhile to read and understand posts that are many lines together. It is an ADD thing.
Lilly those are great examples of light. I want to be the electric one!
I have a dear friend whose light is dimming and she is not expected to live past next week. I am going to say good-bye tomorrow. I'm soooooooo not ready...I called her "The Saint Who Prays For Animals" because when she prayed I had miracles for my animals.
One was a terribly injured leg on one of our horses, she is 23 and had cast her leg under a fence and hurt it so bad I wasn't sure she was going to make it. After I called my friend the next morning as God is my witness this horses swollen leg was healed...
She prayed for our lost 15 year old deaf nearly blind dog who got lost in the city while he was with my son. She prayed and a few hours later he was found. He had been missing for 3 days.
Who will pray for my animals now...

so very sorry.....
i just returned a customer's phone call and heard that on the voice mail.
every now and then these come along, and i experience a few emotions or thoughts.
my thoughts and experiences, and yes i know everyone isn't like this and there are a lot of great, humble, christ serving people here and out there...this isn't directed at you:.
Being a practicing Christian believer, I take blessing quite seriously. I would never ask a blessing on someone verbally unless I want them to know my wishes for them. For example;
A stranger, I will rarely say God bless you out of respect for what their belief system may be. However if I see that they are having a rough day like a stressed mother in a store I can bless her with a smile, a kind word and a silent prayer for her.
A friend who is also a Christian believer; I may say; May God bless you, your family and your day. I try to never say I will pray for someone unless I truly will be praying for them.
